Anybody worried about the possible WGA strike on Halloween? A lot of people haven't been following the going-ons but its pretty important for folks like us. Basically, if the WGA goes on strike then the studios are going to make films NOW and there won't be any new projects for like 12 months.
I'll be effected, anyone else?

i am sorry you'll be hurting but it is a great time for independent writers and producers to make quality pictures. Expand your horizons JOB

It's always a great time for independents. In the hypothetical situation that you'd be hired as a "scab" writer for some studio project, once the strike is over you'd be black-balled from the WGA for eternity. So while you would make short gains, the long term consequences would be quite damaging.

Indie films will rule the coming year.

Your thinking too inside the box. Of course it is not a good idea to get yourself black-balled. But you can find work with production companies that are producing independents. You won't get black-balled for finding work when the studios have none.

You mentioned studio, but do you really want to leave that nice comfortable extremely large building you're working in? Of course not.......You should man up and produce TU2 right now.

What's up guys!! So this stike is definitely affecting everybody differently, so I'll give you my side of it. For acting, it's not horrible, but not great. TV work will go down, but studio feature films will still be made (scripts are stockpiled) and independents can still be made with low budgets! Internet videos guys! It's where it's at. Post production wise, for me, I'm an asst. editor and reality TV is gonna be booming in the coming months, so there's gonna be TONS of jobs in post.

I think that the strike provides an opportunity for us, as internet video creators, to show people what we can do. If the strike goes on long enough, networks will lose viewers. People will look to the internet, among other places, to find entertainment to fill the gaps. Let's get writing.
