So today I talked with my dad and it looks like I'll be handling most of the accounting duties for some Internet content creators social network. It's a big step since I don't have much accounting experience but I think learning to do Corporate tax work and payroll all the contracts in between will be an invaluable lesson. Its the kind of thing they don't teach you in school. Lucky for me I have my pops guiding me fresh out of his retirement in the banking business.
This comes as a new responsibility in the already ambitious Greenroots Media company. This Sunday we are having an important boot camp that will hopefully be a large step for Greenroots. I'm excited to see what kind of ideas and passion everyone brings to the meeting. I know a major problem is time dedication. It's hard to make a living and devote 100% to another project you love. It's like those programmers spending all nighters writing code to make some piece of freeware that no one ever donates to. Only in our situation we'd like everyone to donate their time and creativity into making a great network. Hopefully I can find some middle-way that allows me to be very useful and helpful to Greenroots while succeeding at my job that I love. I feel that its important to do well at both; Failure is not an option.
